Flying out

Wynyard Aero Club members enjoy visiting other flying clubs (mostly in Tasmania) for barbeques and general chat. Some members fly there, some members drive there, and others cadge a seat in an aeroplane, or in a car.
Whatever the chosen mode of transport, the result is always a great day out amongst like-minded people.

Here's a report from a recent trip:-

The Wynyard Aero Club Fly or Drive to Smithton: BBQ and Foxbat Circuit Flight

Laurie McGuinness

The Smithton flyers again turned on great weather and supplied the salads for the BBQ and a bottle of wine for the top Foxbat flyer.
Our hosts Paul Murphy and Sandra Cousins ensured everyone was well looked after, with Devonport Aero Club member Ted Kingshott attending to the BBQ.

The Foxbat circuit Steep Turn Glide Approach attracted 5 flyers:-

Ted Kingshott, Brian Raven, Ian Emmett, Laurie McGuinness and Michael Dykstra. As always Lloyd Kay ensured every flyer enjoyed the short but memorable flight.

All pilots showed fine airmanship as reflected in the score sheets. Special mention to Ted Kingshott for maintaining height in his steep turn scoring 30/30 points. Overall 1st place and bottle of wine Ted Kingshott: 2nd Ian Emmett, followed closely by Michael Dykstra, Laurie McGuinness, and Brian Raven. Highlights on the day were fantastic weather, great BBQ and the normal pleasures of hangar chatting and flying.
